A security safe is missing from the home of a Broomfield woman who was murdered, police said Wednesday.

Karolina Amalia Lopez-Leon, also known as Amalia Lopez De Mansilla, reported a burglary on Oct. 10 at her residence, 2885 E. Midway Blvd., according to a Broomfield Police Department media release.

Lopez-Leon told investigators that the burglar had tampered with a gun safe in her home.

On Oct. 18, police responded to a request for a welfare check at the home and officers found the body of Lopez-Leon inside her mobile home. Homicide investigators discovered that Lopez-Leon’s safe is gone.

Lopez-Leon, 33, had been at the View House in Denver on Saturday night, Oct. 17, the day before her body was discovered.

“We are asking for the public’s assistance in providing information about the murder,” Broomfield police said in the media release. “We are seeking information about acquaintances, places that she may have frequented, or the circumstances surrounding her death.”

A gold Michael Kors clutch purse, containing the victim’s personal information, is missing.

Police described the safe as a “First Alert” brand, it weighs about 480-pounds empty, is 59-inches tall, 28-inches wide, and 20-inches long.
