Last month, Broncos safety and kick returner Omar Bolden ,” a chance for him to honor fans who have “made a difference in the world through the attitude, their work and outreach to others.”
The acknowledgement has personal meaning to Bolden, whose injury in 2011 while at Arizona State changed his approach to football and life.
“Positive Living” isn’t simply a message; it’s a lifestyle for Bolden. And on Wednesday, he announced the first of six winners who he felt shared the lifestyle.
Daniel Dornan, 15, of Cherokee Trail High, started “,” a charity that donates gift bags to those with cancer Children’s Hospitals. Dornan’s mother is a cancer survivor who lost her mother to the disease when she was a teen. Daniel’s cousin also suffered a rare type of cancer at 19. After witnessing his family’s battles against cancer, Dornan started his charity at only 12 years old.
The NFL will feature Bolden’s Positive Living Award and Dornan on “The TODAY Show” as part of the “Together We Make Football” series. The episode is set to air Nov. 27.
Dornan received two tickets to Sunday’s Broncos game against the Packers at Sports Authority Field, where he will get a chance to meet Bolden in the end zone during pre-game warmups.
