A 27-year-old Denver woman has been charged with ethnic intimidation for allegedly threatening a 12-year-old boy with knife.

Amanda Saad Al-Faris also faces a felony menacing charge stemming from an Oct. 23 incident, according to the Denver District Attorney’s Office.

The ethnic intimidation charge is a misdemeanor.

Prosecutors said Saad Al-Faris, armed with a knife, confronted the boy as he got off a school bus, chasing him and shouting racial slurs.

The boy got help from a neighbor, who called police.

Saad Al-Faris remains in custody, her bond has been set at $50,000.

She is scheduled to appear in a Denver court on Friday to be formally advised of the charges.
