Independence Pass near Aspen closed for the season early Wednesday morning, officials said.
The Colorado Department of Transportation confirmed that the high-mountain pass on Colorado 82 between Aspen and Twin Lakes shut down around 8 a.m. on Wednesday.
The pass on Colorado 82 reaches elevations above 12,000 feet and typically opens Memorial Day each year. The route usually closes in the first week of November.
