Brighton police have arrested a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run incident which killed a 61-year-old bike rider who died later at the hospital.

Police said Steven Kemp Jr., 44, of Brighton, was arrested Tuesday evening.

The crash at about 8 p.m. on Monday happened as Patricio Lamorie was riding south in the 600 block of South Kuner Road.

The vehicle hit him from behind, throwing him onto the vehicle before he fell to the road, according to a police news release.

Several passersby who saw Lamorie lying in the road called police.

When police arrived, Lamorie was unconscious. He was taken to a hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Investigators would still like to talk with anyone who saw the incident. Witnesses are asked to call 303 655-2300.
