Re: “University of Missouri president, chancellor resign over race tension,” Nov. 10 news story.

Congratulations to all those who fought and won the battle at the University of Missouri with non-violent action. Nobody was gunned down, no bloody fights, no cars on fire, no looting. One young man went on a hunger strike, and the football team refused to play. The result was the resignation of a university president and chancellor. And finally a public recognition and apology for allowing racist incidents to take place on campus.

Hopefully others fighting for change will learn from these students. Violence is not the only way. Non-violent action may bring results more quickly.
