
BOSTON — Colorado Avalanche captain Gabe Landeskog has been suspended two games for a check on Boston Bruins left winger Brad Marchand, the NHL’s Department of Player Safety announced Friday.
Landeskog was in , and had a telephone hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety at 11 a.m. Friday.
Landeskog collided with Marchand during the Bruins forward’s follow-through on a shot from the point. He was in a defenseless position. Landeskog maintains that his .
Marchand was uninjured and played the rest of the game, after serving a two-minute roughing minor for punching Landeskog when the Avs’ winger tried to apologize for the hit.
Marchand was fined $5,000 for the sucker punch.
