Joe Jefferson, a councilman in Englewood since 2007, was re-elected by voters on Nov. 3 and then chosen Monday to serve as Englewood’s new mayor by his colleagues on council.

Englewood allows council members to serve three, four-year terms before they must step down.

The council also swore in three new members: Laurett Barrentine, who has served on the council in years past, and Amy Martinez and Rita Russell, who are new.

Councilmember Rick Gillit will serve as mayor pro tem.

Term-limited Councilmember Bob McCaslin , along with former Mayor Randy Penn and former Councilwoman Jill Wilson, stepped down.
