A teen convicted in a Westminster that left a man dead was sentenced Wednesday to five years in prison in a program for youthful offenders, prosecutors say.

Israel Jordan Maestas, 17, was of manslaughter, attempted manslaughter and assault in the December 2014 shooting at England Park .

Hector Manuel Castillo, 21, was killed and Aaron Castillo, 25, was wounded.

Maestas was 16 years old at the time of the shooting but prosecutors .

Maestas was sentenced to six years in prison on the reckless manslaughter charge, but a judge suspended the penalty on the condition the teen successfully complete the youthful offender program.

“(Maestas) told police he fired his gun after a confrontation during which he was punched in the face and fell to the ground,” according to a news release from prosecutors in Adams County.

Authorities apprehended Maestas, who fled after the shooting, about two hours after the killing, officials said.
