The Denver Post is seeking nominations for its Gold Helmet Award.

Since 1951, The Post has honored Colorado’s unique high school combination of outstanding senior football player, scholar and citizen.

Nominees must be of all-state caliber, have a grade-point average of at least 3.5 with a challenging curriculum and display strong character in performing community service.

All information must come from school personnel.

Last year’s winner was Mike Morean of Cherry Creek in Greenwood Village, who’s now at the Ivy League’s Princeton.

All information and/or inquiries should be sent to: ndevlin@denverpost.com, and the deadline is Dec. 8.

The 65th winner will be announced in The Denver Post on Dec. 20; honored at a luncheon with family, school, Post personnel and a former winner on Dec. 17; and honored at halftime of the Broncos’ Jan. 3 game at Sports Authority Field at Mile High against the San Diego Chargers in the team’s annual salute to high school football that will include the 10 Broncos coaches of the week, a Broncos prep coach of the year and representatives of the seven classification state champions.
