Forecasters and road crew bosses are advising commuters to dial it down a notch Monday morning as they traverse icy, snow-packed streets.

“People need to kind of keep it slow this morning,” said Kari Bowen, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Boulder. “The roads are slick and icy.”

Snow totals over the past 24 hours ranged from 1.5 inches at Denver International Airport to 4 inches in Westminster, Bowen said.

Mountain ski resorts got anywhere from 5 inches of new snow at Winter Park to 10 ½ inches at Monarch Mountain.

“Some of the resorts got a decent amount of snow,” Bowen said.

Although it will be warmer Monday than Sunday’s high of 25 degrees at DIA, it will likely remain just under freezing, she said.

High temperatures will go above freezing Tuesday and gradually climb to the mid-50s by Friday, Bowen said.

Most Denver metro cities are under snow advisories at least through the morning commute.
