Some Americans are using “Islamic” to describe those who commit terrorist acts. This is exactly what ISIS wants us to do.

By using the broad descriptor, “Islamic,” the terrorists can propagandize that, indeed, America and its allies are waging war against Islam.

The reality is that “jihadists,” those who have declared holy war against their enemies, are the terrorists. They represent a miniscule portion of the world’s 1.5 billion Muslims.

“Jihadist” precisely describes the perpetrators of the unfathomable violence seen in Paris and San Bernardino.

Presidents Bush and Obama both recognized the difference between Islamic and jihadist.

This is not about semantics or political correctness. It is about reality and practicality. The disease of terrorism is transmitted via social media and the press. Letap not hand our enemies a victory of words they don’t deserve.
