alerted customers Tuesday to the hacking of its payment processing system at 29 locations nationwide, including three in Colorado.
CM Ebar LLC, which owns Elephant Bar, said customers’ card data including name, account number, expiration date and verification code could have been stolen.
The affected Colorado locations are:
• 8121 E. Arapahoe Road, Greenwood Village, between Sept. 12 and Dec. 4.
• 7111 W. Alaska Drive, Lakewood, between Aug. 12 and Nov. 24.
• 7585 N. Academy Blvd., Colorado Springs, between Sept. 11 and Dec. 4.
Other affected restaurants are in California, Arizona, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico and Florida. The chain serves burgers and sandwiches, and fare it describes as American and globally inspired.
“We are treating this matter as a top priority, and took steps to address and contain this incident promptly after it was discovered, including engaging outside data forensic experts to assist us in investigating and remediating the situation,” the company said in a news release.
Customers whose card information might have been hacked should review their card account statements and notify their card issuer of any fraudulent transactions.
