As Midtown reaches its dream of a new-urban neighborhood minutes from downtown, David Weekley lets you preview a model

Getting your player ready...

Even a year ago, it took some imagination to see what would happen at Midtown, the master-planned community gathering shape ten minutes north of downtown, where David Weekley Homes will give you a first look inside a new, affordably priced single-family model today. In 2014 most of Midtown’s attractions were just ink on a drawing board; but now you’ll see loads of families who’ve made the move, along with some ‘new urban’ amenities arriving just a short walk from David Weekley’s homes.

That includes Belgian-inspired Bruz Beers, announcing its early 2016 opening a block from David Weekley’s newest Midtown home sites; and Backstage Coffee & Bistro – bringing not just coffee, but cooking and baking, as well, according to owner Jan Mangels. Meanwhile, other builders are coming into Midtown, at MUCH higher prices than the homes David Weekley Homes has to offer at W. 67th and Pecos Street.

All of that looked pretty good to an officer for a federal agency I talked with. He’d transferred from the West Coast to downtown Denver and scoured the market for a home to buy, including older areas like Harvey Park that are now getting lots of buzz — looking for the best size-value with the shortest drive to work. “This is even closer than Harvey Park,” he told me, pointing to where David Weekley Homes now has a 3-bedroom, 1,637 square foot Goldenrod underway for him, to be ready this spring.

He’s one of 20 buyers already under contract at Midtown for David Weekley’s newest home sites, at prices from the mid-$300s.

“People can’t find anything this size for this price, either close to downtown or even heading northwest toward Boulder,” says Elizabeth Finnerty, who’ll join Dan Jaklic in giving you a sneak preview of the almost completed model home today and Saturday.

You’ll see great value in these new homes — from 1,600 finished square feet, all with slab granite countertops and undermount sink in the kitchen, basement with a tankless water heater, and 2-car garages. The prices are comparable to homes at the bottom of the resale market in Highlands and Berkeley, offering very old homes with none of the features and energy performance of these David Weekley homes.

“This is a great time to buy,” Finnerty adds. “Prices are going up all the time.” She and Jaklic will show you where a trailhead into the Platte River, Clear Creek and Sand Creek trails will be, and where Commuter Rail arrives in 2016 with direct service to Union Station.

They’ll also show you some homes that on-site construction supervisor Adam Sisterhen has on track for early delivery, including some Park Collection homes priced from the low $400s that’ll offer mountain views from a bedroom level balcony. Buy one now, and David Weekley Homes will give you $8,000 toward decorator options to use at their design center.

To reach the model preview from downtown Denver, take I-25 north, past I-70, three miles to I-76; head west a mile to Pecos Street and turn north to W. 67th Avenue. The David Weekley Homes model is on the east of Pecos.
