Temperatures will rise to the mid 60s Wednesday and Thursday in the Denver metro area, before storm brings up to 5 inches of snow, forecasters say.
“It will be getting windy again later today and tonight,” said Scott Entrekin, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Boulder.
A wind advisory goes into affect at 6 p.m. Wednesday for the foothills and the mountains, where gusts could reach 90 mph, Entrekin said.
Boulder could see gusts up to 40 mph, he said.
The low temperature Wednesday was 36 degrees at Denver International Airport.
A cool front enters the state Friday. It will drop the high temperatures to the 50s on Friday and the 30s and 40s on the weekend.
The low temperatures during the weekend could drop into the teens, Entrekin said.
There is a 50 percent chance for snow in the Denver metro area Friday night and Saturday, when between 2 and 5 inches of snow could fall.
The mountains could get anywhere from 3 to 6 inches of snow over the same period of time.
