Opening Saturday. Most “Nutcracker” performances are, by default, engineered for the whole family. But a number of upcoming stage shows are aimed squarely at kids this season, including Boulder Concert Band’s Annual Young People’s Concert, which features Boulder Circus Center (Dec. 12, ); Peanut Butter Players’ “Elf: The Musical,” a children’s theater production based on the 2003 comedy” (Dec. 12-21, 303-786-8727); Miner’s Alley Children’s Theatre’s “Story of the Nutcracker” (through Dec. 19, ); and the Boulder Opera’s “Barber of Seville,” part of its ongoing children’s series (through Dec. 13, ).
