News organizations are asking a judge to unseal details of the case against Colorado Planned Parenthood shooter Robert Lewis Dear Jr.

Attorney Steven Zansberg, representing The Associated Press and other media outlets, made the request in a Thursday court filing.

He says there is no basis to keep arrest and search warrants sealed more than two weeks after the Nov. 27 shooting in Colorado Springs, which killed three and wounded nine others.

Prosecutors have charged the 57-year-old Dear with 179 counts of crimes including first-degree murder, attempted murder and assault. During a recent court appearance, Dear declared himself “a warrior for the babies” and said he was guilty. His public defender raised doubts about his competency after his repeated outbursts in court.

Authorities have released few details about the case. Zansberg said courts have unsealed records in other high-profile mass shootings.
