Getting your player ready...

Outside linebacker Von Miller has hit his stride recently, recording at least one sack in each of Denver’s last five games.

“As for me personally, my sacks kind of dip off in December,” Miller said. “This year has been reverse. At the beginning of the year, I wasn’t getting the sacks, and now at the end of the year, I’m starting to get them.”

Defensive end Malik Jackson was absent Thursday because he welcomed his first child, a girl named Nahla.

Jackson returned to practice Friday but will have to leave his daughter for Sunday’s game in Pittsburgh.

“We know it’s a big game,” he said. “We know what we have to do, but I think, for me, having her here and knowing that she’s here and healthy, I can let that off my mind and just go full speed and do what I have to, to put some food on the table for her.”

Denver cornerbacks entered this season irked by multiple national rankings that failed to give them the recognition they felt they deserved for 2014. So far this season, they have received their due recognition as part of a dominant defense that leads the NFL in multiple categories. Kubiak was the latest to weigh in on the play of his starting cornerbacks.

“I tell you what, (Chris Harris) and Aqib (Talib) — I don’t think they have missed a rep of practice all year long,” Kubiak said. “I can’t think of two guys having a better year than those type guys, and it’s because of how they work. They work at what they do. They study players.” Nicki Jhabvala, The Denver Post
