
has accused a Colombian shoe company of knocking off its signature foam footwear in violation of multiple patents.
Crocs sued Evacol USA LLC and Evacol LTDA in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida on Dec. 23, alleging infringement of various Crocs patents, the company said Monday.
, a Colombian company founded in 2006, specializes in the production of sandals made of “EVA or foam rubber,” according to its website. Its U.S. wholesale operations are based in Miami.
“It has recently come to our attention that Evacol has been infringing certain intellectual property rights of Crocs and is attempting to unfairly trade off of Crocs’ brand equity,” brand president Andrew Rees said in a statement. “Crocs will not tolerate these acts and will aggressively defend and protect its valuable assets.”
Evacol USA could not be reached for comment Monday.
