Avalanche 2015 first-round draft choice Mikko Rantanen, 19, had two assists Monday to help Finland beat Sweden 2-1 in the semifinals of the world junior championship in Helsinki.

Rantanen, the Finns’ captain, is on leave from the Avalanche’s American Hockey League affiliate at San Antonio to play for his homeland in the annual under-20 tournament.
