Two people were seriously injured in Colorado Springs late Wednesday after their pickup truck plunged 50 feet down an embankment.
The crash happened about 6:45 p.m. near the intersection of Rusina Road and Poepes Valley Drive.
First responders found the truck’s driver and passenger pinned inside. Fire crews extricated the pair, who were then rushed to a nearby hospital.
Police say the driver was heading northbound on Rusina when he lost control of the vehicle, crossed in to the southbound lanes, struck a guardrail and became airborne.
Alcohol and speed are considered factors in the crash. Police arrested the driver, Santos Carlos Munguia-Hernandez.
Images from the scene showed the pickup badly mangled.
