Re: “The Democrats’ tax fake-out,” Jan. 10 Perspective article.

While reading Megan McArdle’s article on the topic of tax increases on the “middle class” to pay for the inflated promises of the leading Democratic candidates, I’m reminded of Margaret Thatcher’s quote: “The trouble with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money.”

We are entering a presidential election year. It is a sure bet many politicians will be falling all over themselves saying how they will take care of the middle class. Well, I have been in the middle class a few years. I am in the four-score-plus category, so I have been through a number of political seasons. When politicians say they will take care of the middle class, my suggestion for those in the middle class is to place your money in a Mason jar and bury it deep. Thus, when the politicians pass legislation to take care of the middle class, your money will be safe.
