Critics of the Obama’s administration’s nuclear deal with Iran may not admit it, but the weekend’s news was positive. Sanctions were lifted because the International Atomic Energy Agency verified that Iran has shipped out tons of enriched uranium, disabled thousands of centrifuges and taken other measures to roll back its weapons program, as the deal anticipated.
It may be that Iran will now try to cheat on the accord — which the U.S. must guard against. But the fact remains that Iran is further away from a nuclear weapon today than when talks began.
