The Hulk has a permanent home in Denver.
For the last two days, the artist Gamma Acosta has turned a fenced-in parking lot on Colfax Avenue and Williams Street in Denver into his studio. An old one-story building has become his canvas, and Broncos linebacker DeMarcus Ware has become his latest subject.
Acosta, who in 2014 and who has painted murals of and around the city, has been putting the finishing touches on his Hulk/Ware mural, a freehand spray-painted image inspired by the linebacker’s “Hulk Smash” sack celebrations.
The plan is to have it completed by Saturday, a day before Ware and the Broncos host the Patriots in the AFC championship game. When — not if, Acosta said — the Broncos win, he hopes to have Ware see the masterpiece in person.
