Authorities in Woodland Park, as part of an effort to stymie growing heroin use in their community, have arrested 10 people including some of whom have links to “major” suppliers.

The latest arrest came Thursday when investigators apprehended 20-year-old Ian Forbes of Divide.

Detectives began delving into the increased heroin use in the fall.

“The investigation started with the suppliers and followed up with the users,” police said in a Friday news release. “Four primary heroin dealers in the Woodland Park area have been linked to major suppliers.”

Police say 25 more suspects across Colorado are being investigated for having links to heroin in Woodland Park.

Officers from the El Paso and Teller county sheriff’s offices, prosecutors and area police all worked together as part of the investigation.

“We are aggressively pursuing those that deal heroin in our community,” the release said.
