The Colorado Springs man parking lot in Lakewood has been identified, officials said Wednesday.
Franklin Nelson, 51, died Tuesday after being hit by a vehicle while he stood on a sidewalk at 4th Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard, according to a Lakewood Police Department news release.
Around 2:10 p.m., 81-year-old Charles Tatman was eastbound on 4th Avenue when he hit Nelson with his Buick LeSabre, the release said. The car kept going until it collided with the west side of a Walmart store.
Nelson was taken to St. Anthony’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Tatman was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
Lakewood detectives have issued Tatman a summons for careless driving resulting in death, the release said.
Detectives do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the accident, although they will await toxicology results before making a final determination.
