OXFORD, Ohio — Quentin Shore had two goals and an assist Saturday to lead No. 13 Denver to a 5-3 victory over Miami (Ohio) at Steve Cady Arena.
With the game tied 3-3, Shore scored the go-ahead goal four minutes into final period. He and Trevor Moore then assisted on Nolan Zajac’s goal at the 16:28 mark to help the Pioneers earn a two-game road split. Denver lost Friday night’s contest 3-1.
After falling behind 1-0 on a late first-period goal by Miami’s Kiefer Sherwood, the Pioneers struck back with three goals in a seven-minute stretch in the second period to build a 3-1 lead.
Moore got on the board first, then assisted on Matt Marcinew’s goal a little more than three minutes later. Shore’s goal at the 13:53 mark capped the scoring run.
The lead wouldn’t last long.
Alex Gacek scored a goal for Miami to close the second period.
Sean Kuraly then tied the game with a goal 1½ minutes into the third period, but the Pioneers dominated the rest of the period to win for the sixth time in eight games.
