Coloradans are dealing with bitter cold weather following a heavy snowstorm, but with the promise that temperatures will begin a slow rise for the rest of the week.
“Today is still going to be kind of cold with temperatures rising to the 20s,” said Jim Kalina, spokesman for the National Weather Service in Boulder.
The forecast calls for decreasing clouds after a low of only 6 degrees at Denver International Airport Wednesday morning.
Although it will be mostly sunny on Thursday, the temperature is expected to stay one degree below freezing.
There is a 20 percent chance for snow Thursday night and a 10 percent chance Friday morning.
By Friday, the high temperature is expected to climb above freezing for the first time of the week and by Saturday, the high is projected to be 44 degrees.
There is a slight chance for snow Saturday night and Sunday morning, Kalina said.
Temperatures will drop back down into the 30s on Sunday, before climbing again to between 46 and 52 degrees by Tuesday.
“It should be pretty nice,” Kalina said.
