Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project is bringing more liquid gold to Colorado this week.
The distribution arm of the Denver craft brewery recently brought much-coveted Hill Farmstead beers to the state and this week delivers kegs of Melvin Brewing s 2×4 Double IPA.
The Wyoming-based Melvin s long-anticipated arrival in Colorado will take place Thursday for the national 2×4 Day (2/4 on the calendar). The brewery won best small brewpub of the year at the 2015 Great American Beer Festival and just completed a massive expansion.
The Colorado locations getting kegs of 2×4 IPA are Falling Rock and Hops and Pie in Denver; the Boulder and Nederland locations of Backcountry Pizza and Tap House; and Tap and Handle in Fort Collins.
In Denver, Hops and Pie is tapping the keg at 2 p.m.; Falling Rock at 5:30 p.m.
Melvin is one of the elite craft beer brands now distributed by Crooked Stave Artisans. Other breweries in their portfolio include Fremont Brewing from Seattle and Breakside Brewery from Portland.
The Hill Farmstead made the biggest splash when it arrived in January.
This is one we intentionally kept a little secret, said CSA s André DiMattia in a recent interview. Luckily we were able to get enough and there should be more around.
DiMattia said Vermont-based brewery — which makes some of the most sought after beers in the world — is sending kegs (no bottles for now) whenever it can. It s easiest to find at bars that feature Crooked Stave, he said, though the company plans to debut a new beer finder website soon.
We are always happy to find something new and fun to bring to our area, DiMattia said.
