The Colorado Department of Transportation warns motorists that extensive delays are expected on westbound Interstate 70 at Washington Street on Thursday afternoon.
Two center lanes of the road will be closed for about six hours as work crews repair a damaged expansion joint. The closures could extend into the evening rush hour, the agency said at about 10:30 a.m.
Commuters should use alternate routes if they can, CDOT said.
