
1 New Year’s Eve vandalism. Three vehicles were found vandalized Jan. 31 and 1 at the park-n-Ride lot in Bergen Park, Evergreen. Two vehicles had broken windows and the other had damaged side mirrors. Deputies also found broken eggs nearby. Nearby in the 1000 block of Bergen Parkway, glass in the rear door of a business was broken.
2 Fraud victim suspects ice cream thieves. A resident of the 17800 block of West Colfax Avenue, Golden, reported fraud on his bank account totalling more than $2,000. The victim thought the account was hacked by suspicious-acting men he saw at a local gas station where the card was used at an ATM, but the clerk at the gas station said the men just stole ice cream. Police suspected the account was compromised by online purchases.
3 Apple picking. Someone stole a backpack containing an Apple Macbook Pro while the victim was moving things from his car into his apartment Jan. 30 in the 17000 block of Lunnonhaus Drive, Golden. The suspect said the backpack went missing within a 30-minute time frame.
4 Couple fraud at Kohl’s. Police went to Kohl’s, 16700 W Colfax Ave., Golden, on Jan. 31 after employees said a man and a woman had returned stolen merchandise. In two cases, a male suspect put on new shoes and walked out in them, leaving his old ones in the shoe box. The man and woman then returned the items for cash. The two making the returns were identified through surveillance, however the case was closed because police could not identify the thief.
