The Colorado Rapids suffered their first defeat of the preseason on Wednesday, with a 3-1 loss to Swope Park Rangers of the USL in the first game of the Desert Diamond Cup.
Kris Tyrpak scored inside 30 seconds — the second time he’s done so against the Rapids — to give Rangers the early 1-0 lead.

The Rapids evened the score at 1-1 in the 19th minute on a goal by Dominique Badji off a set piece from Dillon Powers.

Rangers went ahead for good in the 63rd minute on a goal by Alberto Sanchez. Will Little sealed the victory with a late goal from distance.
Colorado defender Mekeil Williams was removed from the game in the 41st minute after taking a knock to the head. The Rapids said the move was precautionary.
The Rapids are now 3-1 in preseason action. Colorado takes on Houston Dynamo on Saturday at 7 p.m.
