
Denver’s coroner on Tuesday identified the 53-year-old woman in what police believe was a homicide.
Sheryl Thompson’s cause and manner of death remain under investigation, city officials say.
Thompson’s body was found by police officers conducting a welfare check at a home in the 3400 block of Park Avenue West.
Jerimiah Halsey, 35, on suspicion of first-degree murder after he flagged down a Denver Fire Department crew at a Wheat Ridge grocery store and said he had hurt someone, according to police.
Wheat Ridge police responded to the store, interviewed Halsey and notified Denver police of a possible crime at a Denver residence.
Denver police then conducted a welfare check at the home and found Thompson’s body.
Halsey also is suspected of a parole violation in the case.
