An exterior view of Swedish Medical Center, October 2011. (AAron Ontiveroz, The Denver Post for Enterprise Zones)
Re: Response to surgical tech s theft, Feb. 24 letter to the editor.
Dr. Jason Sutherland s letter praising the administration at Swedish Medical Center for going public on Rocky Allen (the surgical tech accused of stealing narcotics) is a dichotomy of sorts. While it s true the administration did go public after the fact, had the same administration properly done its job, it would have learned that Allen lied on his application and had been terminated from multiple facilities. The hiring process at this and other hospitals is flawed and needs to be addressed. To be truly transparent, Swedish should have acknowledged its administrative failure and fired those in charge. One wonders how many other employees have falsified their work history.
