A federal judge in Denver has handed down sentences of up to 10 years in prison to three people who pleaded guilty to distributing heroin connected to a 2013 fatal overdose in Longmont.
On Feb. 1, U.S. District Court Judge Christine Arguello sentenced lead defendant Brice Alday, 26, to 10 years; on Feb. 29, Danielle Sciortino, 22, was sentenced to five years; and on March 2, Jesse Hervey, 25 was sentenced to three years in prison.
A fourth member of the ring, Jacquelynn Bradley, 22, who was also sentenced March 2 and received 5 years probation, with the first eight months to be spent in home detention, according to Jeff Dorschner, a spokesman for the Colorado U.S. Attorney’s Office.
All four admitted their roles in that led to the overdose death in March, 2013, of Christopher Racine, who was 29 years old, according to Alday’s plea agreement.
An investigation into the group was launched after the overdose.
“Heroin is a deadly drug that is killing young people across all segments of our society,” U.S. Attorney John Walsh, said in a release.
“This heroin trafficking network sold a dangerous drug that resulted in the death of an individual.”
