One person was injured in a downtown Denver apartment fire Tuesday morning, officials said.

The fire happened in a three-story apartment building at 1515 Grant St. just after 10:30 a.m., said Denver Fire Department spokeswoman Melissa Taylor.

One person was rescued off of a third floor balcony, Taylor said. The victim was taken to a local hospital in serious condition with burns and smoke inhalation.

The fire is now out, Taylor said, and the building remains evacuated.

The blaze significantly damaged the third floor of the building, and Taylor suspected the first and second floors have extensive smoke and water damage.

This is a developing story that will be updated as more information becomes available.
