Denver travelers already know what’s what: Denver International Airport has on the fly.
An industry trade publication now agrees.
was recently named the best chef-driven, local or regional restaurant of 2016 by Airport Revenue News, which recognizes top performers in the airport and concession industries.
The , whose original location is in Denver’s Lower Highland neighborhood, specializes in globally inspired and locally sourced cuisine. The airport outpost, in Concourse C, is overseen by Denver-based concessionaire .
“Mission Yogurt is honored to be recognized for Root Down DIA by one of the most respected airport trade publications in the world,” said Rod Tafoya, Mission Yogurt president, in a statement. “We’re proud to serve DEN travelers with local, thoughtful and chef-driven dining options.”
Voting for the Airport Revenue News awards involved more than 83,000 airport industry professionals, according to a news release. Winners were chosen by an independent judging panel.
Mission Yogurt owns and operates restaurants at a number of U.S. airports, including Denver, San Diego and San Jose.
In addition to Root Down, Mission Yogurt also operates a dozen other concepts at DIA, including Etai’s Bakery Cafe, Que Bueno Mexican Grille, Timberline Steaks & Grille, Häagen-Dazs and Einstein Bros. Bagels, according to the company website.
