COLORADO SPRINGS — Colorado Springs police have identified four potential victims of a 68-year-old man accused of sexual assault of a child he met through his wife’s unlicensed home child care business, a department spokeswoman said Friday.

John “Jake” Frey of Colorado Springs is accused of several crimes, including 13 felony counts of sexual assault of a child in a position of trust, court records show.

Investigators believe Frey committed the alleged crimes in the past three years, said police spokeswoman Lt. Catherine Buckley. She said the unlicensed home business in northeast Colorado Springs had been in operation for at least 10 years.

A cease-and-desist letter has been issued to Frey’s wife, Buckley said.

Police are seeking other potential victims who might have been cared for at the home. Anyone with information on the case or has a connection with Frey is asked to call police at 719-444-7000.
