For a position that attracted high-end attention, Cherry Creek didn’t have to go far for its new boys basketball coach.
The Class 5A Bruins have turned to Kent Dertinger, previously the program’s junior-varsity coach.
Dertinger, who also teaches mathematics at Cherry Creek, follows Mike Brookhart, who led the Bruins since 2002 and also doubled as head football coach from 2008-11.
The Bruins, who made the 5A Great 8 the past season, were 16-10.
