An Aurora attorney has been sentenced by an Adams County judge to serve two years of probation in 2014.

Becky Keil, 52, of false reporting and attempting to influence a public servant.

Keil was charged in the case in August 2014 after Westminster police found she lied about being abducted in two separate occasions in March and May of that year.

Prosecutors say she faked both kidnappings, which prompted authorities to seek the public’s help in finding her.

The 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office said the kidnapping hoaxes happened while Keil was handling civil matters for the victim’s family in a high-profile Douglas County murder-for-hire case.

Keil’s license to practice law has been suspended, prosecutors say.
