Rapids winger Shkelzen Gashi was held out of Albania’s game Saturday against Austria due to a “little bit of a calf injury,” Rapids coach Pablo Mastroeni said Monday.

Mastroeni said holding out Gashi on Saturday was done as a precautionary measure.

Albania takes on Luxembourg on Tuesday in an international friendly in Luxembourg City.

Mastroeni said it was too early to determine Gashi’s status for the Rapids’ game Saturday against Toronto FC.

“I d love to give you answers, but I m not a clairvoyant,” Mastroeni said.

The Rapids’ coach said he would need to see if Gashi plays Tuesday, how healthy he emerges from that game and whether he’s tired from travel before knowing his status for Saturday.

Mastroeni said he planned to reassess things on Friday when everyone is back, including Micheal Azira who is coming in from Uganda.

“If (Azira) s not playing, there could be two or three moving parts,” Mastroeni said.
