The teen in a Centennial crash that killed two women told investigators he had consumed three beers in the hour before the wreck and that he was speeding, according to an arrest affidavit.

A sheriff’s deputy also noted that , 18, smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes.

“Am I going to be responsible for those two girls?” he asked after the Friday crash, according to the court document.

Jones is accused of two counts of vehicular homicide and one count each of driving under the influence, reckless driving and possession of a forged instrument. He was freed after posting $100,000 bond.

The teen appeared in court Monday morning where he broke down in tears after going before a judge, .

Court records show the crash was not his first run in with police over driving infractions. In November, Taden pleaded guilty to careless driving stemming from an August incident, court records show.

Authorities say Gayle Buckwalter, 82, and Audrey Burton, 77, were killed in the Friday wreck

Both were ejected from their vehicle in the crash.

The affidavit says Jones was driving an Acura sedan at a high speed down Colorado Boulevard about 4:30 p.m. when he entered the left-hand lane to pass a slowing vehicle.

The women were in a car trying to make a left turn across the boulevard from Peakview when Jones slammed into them “t-bone style,” investigators wrote.

Authorities say Jones’ Acura was carrying several other teens, one of whom had minor injuries after the wreck.

Investigators say they also found what appeared to be a fake South Carolina driver’s license with Jones that showed him as being 23 years old.

“Am I getting a ticket for the crash?” Jones asked a deputy before he was booked into jail, the affidavit said.
