Vacations, hopefully, are always celebratory, and when the occasion calls for blowing out candles on a cake or other sweet confection, how fun to be able to not just lick the icing, but also eat the candles. Edible Candles from Let Them Eat Candles clearly are not travel essentials — but they’re no space hogs either, so what the heck. Available in packs of three in dark chocolate, milk chocolate or white chocolate, the entire candle — except for the little wick, which is paraffin-coated cotton — is edible, including the decorative dots, squiggles and other shapes that make the 3.5-inch-high tapered candles even more festive. Like most typical birthday candles, they’ll burn for barely a minute — enough for perhaps a chorus or two of Happy Whatever to You. Then pick off the wick and devour what’s left. The ingredients include chocolate liquor, sugar, cocoa butter, soy lecithin and food coloring for the decorative trim. The candles are made in a facility that uses peanuts, tree nuts and wheat. Cruise-bound travelers should beware that passengers are barred from lighting candles — or anything else — in their staterooms. But waiters will likely readily assist in public dining venues, and a shore excursion might provide a flicker of opportunity.
Edible Candles are $11.95 for a pack of three at .
