The Mountain Express Lane, for eastbound traffic on a stretch I-70 between Empire and Idaho Springs, will be open Saturday.

The lane, designed to relieve traffic congestion, is scheduled to open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., according a Colorado Department of Transportation media release.

Inclement weather, featuring a mix of rain and snow showers, is expected Saturday along the I-70 corridor in the mountains, according to the National Weather Service.

“For Saturday afternoon, we expect heavy eastbound traffic with some slower speeds due to wet roads, but total travel delays should not be significant,” CDOT I-70 Mountain Corridor Manager Patrick Chavez said in the release.

Westbound traffic on I-70 Saturday morning is expected to be heavy, with some moderate congestion, before clearing late in the morning.
