Following is the latest fishing report, released by the Colorado Parks and Wildlife office on Tuesday.

Aurora Reservoir

Open to boating and the water temperature is 43 degrees. Trout fishing from shore is rated as anywhere from slow to fair. Most trout are being caught using power bait from a slip rig and some reports using crawlers. Boaters are reporting fair to good success on trout trolling slowly with lures and crawlers. Some reports of walleye being caught from shore using jerk baits and jigs. Restricted to electric motors only.

Quincy Reservoir

The reservoir is open to boating. Water temperature is approximately 48 degrees. Fishing is restricted to artificial flies and lures only. Boats with electric motors only and only watercraft capable of being launched by hand permitted.

Eleven Mile Reservoir

Eleven Mile Reservoir is open to boating. The North Shore boat ramps are the only ramps open. Trout fishing is from shore is fair. Bait is seeing the greatest success, but fly anglers have also had some smiles. North Shore, Witchers Cove and Howbert Point have seen good action.

The Dream Stream fishing is good, with use of egg patterns, scuds, black beauties, zebras, stone flies, midges in the deeper pools and in the center running with the current. Lots of bigger fish caught near the red barns and below the pier.

Jackson Reservoir

Lake level is full. Surface water temperature is approximately 49 degrees. Fishing has picked up. Fishing had been fair to good for wipers, walleye, crappie, and trout. Jackson Lake Fish Survey and Management Data.

Spinney Mountain Reservoir

Spinney Mountain State Park north boat ramps opened April 8. The south boat ramp will remain closed due to low water levels.

Arkansas Headwaters

The week ahead looks like typical spring weather in the upper Arkansas River valley. Most days the forecast calls for mixed skies and we expect some precipitation, making fishing difficult.

Many successful morning anglers are combining a golden stonefly or other attractor nymph with a trailing midge. By early afternoon, our blue wing olive mayflies are getting active. Expect to see drifting emergers/nymphs every day with the stronger hatches occurring on afternoons with cloud cover.

Lathrop

Boat ramps are now open and lakes are open to fishing. Early season is a great time to chase big pike. Trout are being caught on Horseshoe and Martin, but the numbers are a bit low. Martin has been stocked with catchable trout. Stop by the Visitor Center to show off any catch.

Trinidad Lake

The lake is at 855 surface acres with a surface elevation of 6194.83. The surface temperature is in the low 40’s. Boaters are catching trout trolling and using powerbait. Shoreline fishermen are catching trout using powerbait in Reilly Canyon and some areas of the South Shore. Boaters are reminded that boats must be inspected prior to launch.

Lake Granby

Ice near Sunset boat ram is still 14 to 16 inches. Water is starting to form on the shoreline. Fishing has remained good for lake trout if you stay focused and change up your presentation all day long.

North Michigan Reservoir (State Forest State Park)

Lately it seems like ice fishing on the North Michigan Reservoir has started to slow down. We had a couple of anglers fishing the North Michigan this past weekend reporting fair results catching a couple of rainbows around 10 inches in length. The trout seem to be kind of spooky.

Steamboat Lake

Ice is still pretty solid everywhere. Willow Creek is starting to open up a little. Fishing has slowed down.

Sylvan Lake

The lake has 20 or more inches of layered ice in most areas with surface slush. The lake was stocked with 11 to 12 inches rainbow March 31. Anglers are seeing some nice brookies. UNSAFE areas of ice can always exist so please use caution. If you are willing to put forth the effort, nice brookies and browns can be caught on flies at East Brush Creek.

Blue Mesa

Blue Mesa is officially ice free. Elk Creek and Lake Fork boat ramps are now open from 6:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Fishing for trout is excellent using jigs and crankbaits along the shorelines. Lake trout fishing is fair jigging and trolling at a depth of 40 to 80 feet.
