Bustang has canceled its next two runs along the Interstate 70 Corridor between Denver and Glenwood Springs because of adverse weather conditions and potential highway closures, according to a news release from the Colorado Department of Transportation.
Bustang has also canceled Friday evening’s Route 700 from Denver to Glenwood Springs and Saturday morning’s Route 701 from Glenwood Springs to Denver.
A number of other weather-related issues are snarling traffic across the state as a large weekend storm moves into the state.
Interstate 70 was closed for several hours near Vail Pass because of multiple disabled vehicles.CDOT said the road finally reopened at 8 p.m.
CDOT closed westbound I-70 from Floyd Hill to Eisenhower Tunnel at 4:30 p.m. The roadway re-opened at 5:05 p.m., according to a CDOT tweet.
CDOT tweeted at 3:40 that an accident on southbound Interstate 25 at I-70 was blocking left lane traffic. By 4:10 p.m., the lane had been cleared.
Westbound I-70 at Georgetown closed down Friday afternoon with no estimated re-opening time.
The department put the state’s traction law into effect Friday afternoon for Interstate 70 in both directions between Vail and Copper Mountain.
The traction law requires all passenger vehicles have snow or mud/snow tires, use chain or alternative traction devices or be a four or all-wheel-drive vehicle.
A severe storm is expected over the weekend that could dump up to 4 feet of snow in the mountains before easing up by Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
A winter storm warning is in effect for the mountains from noon Friday through 6 a.m. Sunday.
