Jefferson County prosecutors filed formal charges against a man accused of setting a Lakewood duplex on fire.

Christopher Magana, 27, faces 35 counts, according to a news release from the Jefferson County District Attorney’s office. Magana allegedly set the fire that endangered the lives of 14 people on April 12.

The charges include 14 counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree arson, two counts of second-degree arson, 14 counts of fourth-degree arson, criminal mischief and two counts of violent crime. All charges are felonies.

Nine of the 14 victims in the case are under the age of 18.

The fire started in a car around 3 a.m. The blaze spread into the duplex, located at 5615 W. Fifth Ave.

No one was injured.

Magana was the same day. He appeared in Jefferson County District Court on Tuesday, where a judge formally advised him of the charges, according to the release.
