Search and rescue crews in southern Colorado scouring a remote area for two missing men over the weekend found one of them dead and rescued the other.
The men — Michael Archuleta and Efrim Jiron — were reported overdue Saturday from a trip to Conejos County’s Duck Lake near the town of Horca.
On Monday, Archuleta was found alive and Jiron dead. Both are from Antonito.
Authorities say their search was complicated by deep snow and stormy weather.
Teams from the Wolf Creek Ski Area ski patrol, Mineral County Search and Rescue and Archuleta Search and Rescue assisted the Conejos County Sheriff’s Office in the search.
Authorities did not say why the men traveled to Duck Lake.
