
The untimely passing of David Bowie caught us all by surprise.

The Flaming Lips pay tribute by masterfully performing covering songs of the dearly departed. Most recently, the Oklahomans played “The Music of David Bowie” at the sacred Radio City Music Hall within the last several weeks and a slew of swag for Record Store Day that included a comic book and choice vinyl.
Last night, Wayne Coyne and the boys performed the David Bowie classic “Space Oddity” on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” The choice in wardrobe posed to be as interesting as the take on the out of this world classic. Coyne’s ensemble included LED lights that appear to have been put together out of a clown’s hope chest from Cirque de Soleil. Nonetheless, the Lips did Bowie proud with a business approach that also included a cameo by Star Wars’ furry protagonist, Chewbacca.
