Ozzie the Colorado Springs police K-9 helped track down a suspected burglar police say threatened a woman and her neighbors with a gun before leading police on a foot chase.
Bruce Knight, who was treated at a hospital for minor injuries inflicted by Ozzie, is being held for investigation of first-degree burglary and felony menacing.
A woman called police at 11:30 p.m. to the 3600 block of El Morro Road on a report of a man menacing people with a gun.
The woman said the suspect was pointing a gun at her and other people and threatening to shoot them, the Colorado Springs police report says.
Police say Knight fled on foot as officers arrived in the area.
Two officers spotted Knight and tried to contact him, the report said. Knight fled, jumping fences and running through a creek bed between Delta Drive and Academy Boulevard, the report says.
Sand Creek division officers set up a perimeter and Ozzie began hunting for the suspect.
“Canine Ozzie tracked to the male who was hiding in thick brush and made contact with the male,” the report says.
The contact was not explained in the report but led to injuries to Knight.
